Anthropic Expands Claude Cowork to Web and Mobile, Adds Direct Actions to Gmail and Google Drive

Anthropic has updated its Claude ecosystem, expanding the reach of its agentic environment Claude Cowork and introducing write-capable actions to its Google Workspace integrations.

The updates address two persistent friction points in AI agent deployment: interface accessibility and execution boundaries within external productivity tools.

Claude Cowork Expands Across Web and Mobile

Claude Cowork, Anthropic's multi-agent workspace for managing multi-step workflows and local project state, was previously restricted to the Claude desktop application. With the latest rollout, Cowork is accessible via web browsers and mobile applications for all paid subscription tiers, including Pro ($20/month), Max, Team ($25/seat/month), and Enterprise.

The cross-platform expansion allows users to initiate, monitor, and manage asynchronous agent tasks remotely. Users can review project workspaces, check sub-agent progress, and trigger scheduled tasks from mobile devices while computations run server-side or synchronize across authenticated sessions.

Anthropic also confirmed that the temporary 50% increase in weekly usage limits for Claude Code has been extended through August 31, 2026 across paid tiers.

Claude Workspace Integration Interface

Write Actions in Gmail and Google Drive

Alongside the Cowork expansion, Anthropic released functional upgrades to its Google Workspace connectors. When initially introduced, the connectors operated in read-only mode, enabling Claude to search message threads, retrieve calendar schedules, and extract context from Google Drive documents.

The updated connectors now support direct write and dispatch capabilities:

  • Gmail Execution: Users can instruct Claude to compose and send email replies directly through their connected Google account, rather than generating text for manual copy-pasting.
  • Google Drive Management: Claude can now create, organize, and update files directly within designated Drive folders based on project prompts and structured data.

Connectors operate under standard Google OAuth scopes. For Team and Enterprise accounts, workspace primary owners must enable Workspace connectors at the organizational level before individual team members can authenticate their accounts.

Strategic Shift Toward Embedded Agentic Workflows

Anthropic's simultaneous updates reflect an industry push to move conversational assistants from isolated chat prompts into active system operators. By combining multi-device task monitoring with direct API execution inside corporate productivity suites, Anthropic is positioning Claude to handle continuous administrative and development pipelines without requiring custom integration middleware.

Anthropic is finalizing negotiations to acquire Israeli artificial intelligence infrastructure startup Decart in a transaction valued at approximately $7 billion, according to reporting from Calcalist and Reuters. The acquisition, expected to be settled primarily in Anthropic equity, would mark the Claude developer's largest purchase to date as it prepares for a planned initial public offering. Founded in September 2023 by Dr. Dean Leitersdorf and Moshe Shalev, Decart specializes in hardware-ag
